Air fryers for a small Indian kitchen

Prices and ratings checked 5 November 2026 7 picks

An air fryer earns its counter space for exactly three things in an Indian kitchen: reheating fried snacks, roasting vegetables, and making tikka or pakora-style food with a fraction of the oil.

Basket size is the first decision. 3.5–4.2 litres suits one or two people; 4.5–5.5 litres is for a family, because an air fryer needs the food in a single layer to crisp properly.

Ratings were read on 5 November 2026 and prices are approximate. Wattage, capacity and coating are from the listings.

Seven air fryers under ₹5,000

Small baskets first, then the 4.2–4.5 litre all-rounders, then the family size.

Havells Prolife Brio 4.2 L Air Fryer, See-Through Window, 1350 W
Best overall

Havells

₹3,819

4.3

Havells Prolife Brio 4.2 L Air Fryer, See-Through Window, 1350 W

1350 W · 4.2 L · See-through window · Non-stick basket · 2-year door-step warranty

Good for: A family of three or four that wants to watch the food cook

  • The see-through window is the feature you use every single time: you can check browning without pulling the basket and dumping the heat.
  • A 4.2 litre basket is the right size for a family of four in one batch, and the 1350 W element is adequate for that volume.
  • A two-year door-step warranty from Havells is the strongest service promise in this guide at the price.
  • Havells claims 85% less oil with its 360° air circulation — a brand figure, but in line with what this class of machine actually does.

Watch out: The listing advertises no preset programs, so you set time and temperature yourself — fine if you follow recipes, less convenient if you want one-touch buttons.

4.2

Philips HD9200/90 Air Fryer, 4.1 L, Rapid Air Technology, 1400 W

1400 W · 4.1 L · 80–200 °C · 60-min timer · Dishwasher-safe parts

Good for: A first air fryer, where recipes and spare parts are easy to find

  • Philips’ starfish-design pan and Rapid Air circulation are the benchmark this whole category is judged against, and the recipe library is the largest.
  • Dishwasher-safe 4.1 litre basket and pan, plus a 1.8 m cord — practical details that matter in a small kitchen.
  • Wide 80–200 °C range with a 60-minute timer and auto-off, which covers every recipe you are likely to cook.
  • The free NutriU app carries 200+ Indian and global recipes, including Chef Ranveer Brar’s — genuinely useful when you are starting out.

Watch out: No preset programs and a 60-minute maximum, and at 4.1 litres it is smaller than the 4.5-litre machines at the same price.

AGARO Galaxy Digital Air Fryer, 4.5 L, 7 Presets + Reheat, 1400 W

AGARO

₹3,779

4.3

AGARO Galaxy Digital Air Fryer, 4.5 L, 7 Presets + Reheat, 1400 W

1400 W · 4.5 L · 7 presets + reheat · 80–200 °C · 120-min timer · Keep warm

Good for: Anyone who wants one-touch programs and a longer timer

  • Seven presets — fries, chicken leg, shrimp, cake, steak, fish and ribs — plus a separate reheat mode, all on a touch panel.
  • A 120-minute timer is double what most rivals offer, which matters for slow-cooked meats and dehydration.
  • Keep-warm holds food at temperature after the cycle ends, so a second batch does not leave the first one cold.
  • 4.5 litres and 1400 W put it in the same practical class as the Havells for slightly less money.

Watch out: No see-through window in the listing, so checking on food means pulling the basket and losing heat.

Nutricook 4.5 L Air Fryer Essential, Ceramic Coating, Clear Window, 1300 W
Best PTFE-free

Nutricook

₹4,299

4.3

Nutricook 4.5 L Air Fryer Essential, Ceramic Coating, Clear Window, 1300 W

1300 W · 4.5 L · Ceramic coating (no PTFE, PFAS, PFOA) · Window + light · 6 programs · 2-year warranty

Good for: Anyone who specifically wants a ceramic basket

  • A ceramic coating marketed as free of PTFE, PFOA and PFAS — the only model in this guide making that claim.
  • A clear window plus an internal light, so you can watch browning without opening the basket.
  • Six presets including samosa and grill, and a two-year warranty — the longest alongside Havells.
  • Smart temperature control adjusts during the cook rather than holding one setting throughout.

Watch out: At 1300 W it is the least powerful pick here, and ceramic coatings generally lose their non-stick finish sooner than PTFE — treat the basket gently.

Inalsa Tasty Fry DW5.5 Air Fryer, 5.5 L, Digital, 1600 W
Best for a big family

Inalsa

₹4,739

4.2

Inalsa Tasty Fry DW5.5 Air Fryer, 5.5 L, Digital, 1600 W

1600 W · 5.5 L · Digital, 8 functions · Window · 80–200 °C

Good for: Five or more people, or batch cooking for the week

  • The largest basket in this guide at 5.5 litres, which is the difference between one batch and two for a family of five.
  • The most powerful element here at 1600 W, so it recovers heat quickly when you open the basket with a full load.
  • A see-through window and eight one-touch functions on a touch display, covering air fry, bake, roast, grill, toast and reheat.
  • A smoke vent helps with the smell of frying fish or chicken in a small kitchen.

Watch out: The biggest footprint here — measure your counter and sink first. For one or two people it is more preheat and more washing than you need.

Inalsa NutriFry 3.5 L Digital Air Fryer, 1400 W
Best for two people

Inalsa

₹2,987

4.3

Inalsa NutriFry 3.5 L Digital Air Fryer, 1400 W

1400 W · 3.5 L · Digital touch · 1–60 min · 80–200 °C

Good for: Couples and small households with limited counter space

  • The highest-rated small air fryer here at 4.3, and one of the highest-rated in the whole guide.
  • A digital touch panel and full 80–200 °C range at under ₹3,000 — you are not giving up control to save money.
  • 1400 W in a 3.5 litre basket means it heats fast, which suits the smaller portions it is built for.
  • Small enough to leave on the counter permanently in a compact kitchen.

Watch out: 3.5 litres is one batch for two people — a family of four will be cooking twice, and the 60-minute timer rules out long low cooks.

Basket size is not the same as usable space

A 4.5-litre basket holds roughly 700–800 g of food in one layer. If you pile it, the food steams instead of crisping — which is why people who cook for four end up buying twice.

For a couple, a 3.5-litre basket is quicker to heat and easier to store. For three or more, go 4.5 litres or larger and accept the extra counter space.

Controls and the window

Digital controls with presets are genuinely useful for reheating and for roasting at a set temperature and time. Mechanical dials are cheaper and equally accurate for simple tasks.

A see-through window is the feature people miss when they do not have one: it lets you check browning without pulling the basket and losing heat.

Coating and cleaning

Most baskets are non-stick coated. Ceramic coatings that state no PTFE or PFAS are the alternative if that matters to you; they are usually slightly dearer.

Dishwasher-safe baskets and trays make the difference between using the fryer weekly and keeping it in a cupboard. Check that the specific basket — not just the accessories — is dishwasher-safe.

Before you buy

Questions people ask before buying

Short answers to what comes up most often about air fryers for a small indian kitchen.

What size air fryer do I need for two people?

3.5 to 4.2 litres. That holds a single layer of vegetables or snacks for two; anything larger just takes longer to heat.

Do air fryers really use less oil?

Yes for most foods — a teaspoon or two is enough for vegetables and tikka. For things like samosas, the result is closer to reheated than freshly fried.

Can I put aluminium foil in an air fryer?

Yes, as long as it is weighted down and does not block airflow at the bottom of the basket.
